A geographically defined and delimited area which has been notified and approved for economic, industrial and commercial activities.

  • Creation of jobs when there is significant unemployment,
  • Promotion of Exports to generate foreign exchange reserves when there is a shortage of foreign reserves and a trade deficit,
  • Development of specific industries ie manufacturing, mining & minerals, sport goods and other exportable goods and
  • Technology Transfer.

The Federal Government and Provincial Government may establish SEZs by themselves or in collaboration with private parties under various modes of collaboration including public private partnership or exclusively through the private parties as provided under the Act.

  • One time exemption from all custom duties and taxes on plant and machinery imported in to Pakistan except certain items restricted under Chapter 87 of Pakistan Customs Tariff.
  • Exemption from all taxes on income for a period of 10 years from of date of signing of Development Agreement by the Developer and for those Enterprises who commence commercial production on the specified date.

SEZ shall have a minimum size of at least fifty (50) acres, 70% of the SEZ land area will be used for purpose of operations of zone enterprise.
